
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has noted that the peace and stability currently enjoyed in Ghana should be cherished and protected because they are the foundations of every country’s development.
He said this during a working visit to the National Peace Council (NPC) in Accra on Monday.
He commended the National Peace Council for its critical role in promoting national cohesion, peace, and stability and, underscored the Council’s dedication to nation-building through initiatives such as inter-party dialogue, conflict mediation and fostering community engagement.
“The National Peace Council played a key role in promoting peace and stability during the 2024 general elections by working closely with various stakeholders to prevent conflicts and ensure peaceful elections,” he added.
The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen partnerships between the National Peace Council and other key stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations and traditional leaders.
He pledged to mobilise resources to support the Council’s programmes and activities.
The Executive Secretary of the NPC, George Amoh, expressed gratitude to the Minister and pledged the Council’s full support for the Ministry.
