Ghana Banking News-The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Rev Dr Mensa Otabil has expressed his sympathies to former employees of First Capital Bank who are now jobless due to the collapse of that famous bank.

In his first public response to the brouhaha surrounding Capital Bank’s collapse exactly a year ago and matters arising out of the monies amounting to 610million cedis that has gone down the drain, the ICGC leader believes the prospects that lied with the former bank looked brighter.

Being a Board Chair of the defunct Bank, Dr Otabil stressed his position was only advice-related.

He noted the day to day activities and running of the Bank was undertaken by the Chief Executive and not his humble self.

RESPONSE:

The Servant of God indicated that his delay in responding was not an admission of guilt but rather a calculated attempt to allow the due process to work.

He revealed the law enforcement agencies such as the Economic and Organized Crime Organization (EOCO) has contacted him for explanation of his role at the bank.

Rather than seeking to purge himself in the open, Dr Otabil noted it is important that he cooperated with the bodies clothed with both legal and enforcement authority to deal with the issues.

Dr Otabil mentioned the attempt by some persons to seek clarification from him, noting he has opened up to them on his role at First Capital Bank.

CONFIDENCE:

Expressing his confidence in the institutions of State, Dr Otabil said the enforcement agencies possess the potential of getting to the bottom of issues that occasioned the collapse of First Capital bank.

As a believer of the rule of law, Dr Otabil pledged his commitment to cooperate with every mandated institution of State to complete their investigations.

The process started by the investigative bodies, the ICGC leader mentioned when completed will ensure the national interest is protected.

He expressed hope that the rights of all parties in the debacle will be carefully and adequately protected as the investigations wear on.
