A local herbalist, Osofo John Ackah of Kwamang in the Afigya North District of Ashanti has urged Ghanaians to patronise herbal medicine because it is potent.

He has urged people not to underestimate the power and potency of herbs because they are divine and backed by the  Bible.

Osofo John Ackah, 44, claims the healing power of herbs in treating variety of ailments should not be taken for granted as a national effort to promote herbal medicine to complement orthodox medicine.

He has cured four HIV/AIDS patients including a medical doctor but would not claim a cure for the disease because he uses different herbs to cure these patients according to his instincts.

He also cures impotence, barrenness, drunkeness, cancer of the throat,  prostate cancer and, indeed, all the chronic diseases.

His experience is premised on the fact that he was introduced to herbal medicine at the tender age of 3 and got initiated into the practice at 7 years when his 97-year-old Presbyterian Catechist cum herbalist, Opanin Yaw Koranteng at Awukugwa initiated him into herbal medicine.

He stayed with his grandfather at Awukugwa in the Eastern region and assisted his grandfather in search of herbs to treat his patients.

At age 5, when his Grandfather seemed weak and could no longer go to the bush for herbs he (Osofo John) who was named after Opanin Yaw Koranteng , solely did the search for herbs for use.

He claims never, for once, did he pick the wrong herb for the Oldman for which reason Opanin Koranteng gifted the power of the herbs to him (Osofo John) at age 7. It had been bequeathed to him as a legacy of his forefathers.

The religious background of his grandfather as a catechist explains why Osofo John is conversant with biblical directions regarding the use of herbs.

Osofo John, whose birth along side three other siblings (sons) by the four wives of his father,  is explained in the administration of herbs as directed by Opanin Yaw Koranteng, is gifted in the treatment of all ailments with herbs with relative ease intuitively.
