Govt Reiterates Commitment to Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Project
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwame Governs Agbodza, has reiterated the government’s commitment to successfully implement the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Development Project.
According to him, the 1,028km highway interconnects five West African countries and crosses economic centers of Abidjan, Accra, Lome, Cotonou and Lagos.
The Minister made these remarks at the launch of the National Stakeholders and Community Engagement Campaign of Project Affected Communities in Ghana on Tuesday in Accra.
The engagement was aimed at sensitizing about 32 communities affected by the project.
Mr Agbodza explained that once completed, the project would facilitate the free movement of goods and services, contributing to the socio-economic development of the sub region.
Ghana’s section of the highway is about 520km- more than half of the entire corridor. It is expected that this section will be constructed on greenfield land along major cities and towns including Apimanim, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Saltpond, Winneba and Accra. Other areas affected are Tema, Kasseh, Akatsi and Akanu.
