The government has lifted the ban on the holding of international conferences and forums in the country because of the Ebola outbreak.
According to a statement issued by the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in Accra yesterday, unless otherwise directed all entities and groups whether local or international could now hold international conferences and forums in the country.
In August, 2014, the government reviewed and evaluated the interventions instituted to prevent the deadly Ebola Viral Disease in the country.
The statement said consistent with the firm decision of the ECOWAS Commission that all meetings and missions be suspended unless absolutely essential and well-guided, a moratorium was subsequently placed on all international conferences and international gatherings which had the potential of spreading the Ebola Virus.
“The moratorium placed on the holding of International Conferences and fora in Ghana on account of the recent Ebola outbreak in the sub-region, has been lifted forthwith until otherwise directed,” it stated.
