Gov’t cannot assure students of “no Dumsor” during exams-Education ministry

Profesor Jane Opoku-AgyemangIn the wake of the frequent power fluctuations in Ghana in recent times, the education ministry says government cannot assure students of “no dumsor” during examination period.

Inconsistent power supply is one of the major challenges students complain about during examination periods which they say affects their academic output. Students have therefore been appealing to authorities to intervene on their behalf to ensure consistent power supply during examination periods.

When asked by a student of KNUST about the education ministry’s plans to intervene on behalf of students to ensure that the Electricity Company of Government (ECG) gives preferential treatment to students of KNUST as they write their exams, the deputy education minister in charge of tertiary, indicated that government made an effort to intervene but failed.

According to him, since government made an effort but was unsuccessful, his outfit cannot assure students of no interruptions in power supply during examination period.
