Ghana’s Agric minister, Dr. Afriyie Akoto celebrated at 70

The entire executives of the ruling NPP in the Ashanti Region as well as the Chief of Staff of the Republic, Frema Osei Opare last Sunday celebrated the life of the Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto who turned 70 years on the day.

Singing happy birthday tunes to him despite his absence at the True Vine Hotel last Sunday, the regional executives led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako extolled the virtues of the man who has now become known as ‘Mr Planting for Food and Jobs’.

Dr Afriyie, a former NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso has been in the political circles for over 40 years.

Known to his peers as a coffee and cashew farmer, the noble Agric Minister has stood in and outside Parliament to debate the opposition NDC party on several agricultural issues.

CHIEF OF STAFF:

In her succinct remarks about the Agric Minister, the Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Osei Opare said the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo has become successful because of the work rate of ministers like Dr Akoto Afriyie.

She noted that the planting for food and jobs program by the Agric Ministry has brought in more dividends to the farmers of this country as well as those who do business in the Agric sector.

Ghana, the Chief of Staff stressed unlike previous years under the NDC does not import foods including cereals from neighboring countries again.

These successes, the first female Chief of Staff noted has become possible due to the industry, diligence, competence and sense of focus of the Agric Minister, Dr Afriyie Akoto.

‘’If people see the Nana Addo government doing well then they should know that people like Dr Afriyie Akoto are behind the wheel pushing things into its proper spaces with the planting for food and jobs program’’, Madam Osei Opare intimated.

NPP REGIONAL CHAIRMAN:

Flanked by the regional women organizer, Nana Ama Ampomah as well as Francis Adomako, Regional Organizer, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Chairman lauded the efforts of the Agric Minister.

According to him, the performance of the Agric Minister is not surprising to some of them because he had always demonstrated competence in what he does.

The NPP, Chairman Boasiako noted has won the hearts of many Ghanaians because of the planting for food and jobs policy, a program that has been spearheaded by Dr Afriyie Akoto.

The Regional Chairman revealed that Dr Afriyie Akoto has unceasingly supported the regional executives with funds and resources in activities they undertake for the party.

‘’We in the Ashanti NPP are proud of the exploits of Dr Afriyie Akoto and we have every belief that with him as Agric Minister a second term for Nana Addo will be possible’’, Chairman Wontumi happily noted.
