Free SHS has shamed detractors-President Akufo-Addo

Ghana Education News-The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the successful implementation of the free senior high school policy has shamed those who fought against it.

The policy, he maintained has been carefully designed to allow every Ghanaian child to at least complete SHS once the person attains school going age.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo in the Sekyere Central District, the President noted that the policy has dazed his detractors.

Some people, especially followers of the NDC party had doubted the feasibility of the free SHS policy.

”The implementation of the free SHS policy has shamed my detractors and my government is determined to make it part of basic education in the country”, the President intimated.

 

LAW:

Mincing no words, the President indicated the resolve of his government to back the policy with a legal document.

This, he mentioned will make it compulsory for everyone to be in school from kindergarten to SHS level.

The President believes with the legal backing no parent or guardian can deny his or her child the opportunity to be in school till he or she completes SHS.

Drawing rapturous applause from the crowd, the President mentioned his commitment to fine tune the process and provide opportunities for all Ghanaian children to be educated.

”I am determined to make it a binding policy as we legislate free SHS so that itย  becomes the minimum qualification a Ghanaian child attains as they start from kindergarten”, the President ignited.

CHIEF:

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs of Nsuta-Kwamang-Beposo, Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, Beposomanhene urged the President to be focused on all the policies he is rolling out.

These policies such as the one district one factory, one village one dam and others has the potential of creating employment avenues for the youth in the country, Nana Kwabi posited.

He commended the President for the implementation of the free SHS policy, adding all his subjects can now send their wards to school freely.

Nana Kwabi promised to support the planting for food and jobs program and mentioned the provision of about 5, 000 acres of land to back the project.

” We are in support of the projects your government is implementing and we are backing you to succeed so our youth will get jobs and cater for their families”, Nana Kwabi passionately stressed.
