Floods Force Schools To Close Down

floodFloods caused by persistent rains, have disrupted academic work in a number of schools in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

Some of the schools affected are Nana Ayebie Amihene School, Nzemaman Complex, Methodist Creche, Maryland Preparatory School, Peace International School, Presbyterian and Action Churches schools.

The rest are Mount Zion Preparatory School at Ekpu, Mizza Memorial Preparatory, New Edobo, and Jomoro Rural Bank Headquarters, Tikobo No1.

Mr James Belia Benson, District Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) told Ghana News Agency that the current situation had also rendered more than 5,000 people homeless.

He said some of the affected communities are Newtown, Newtown Whart, Effasu, Anlomatuope, Half Assini, Ekpu, Old and New Edobo, New Kabenla-Suazo, Atwebanso and Adu-sua-zo.

Mr Benson said his outfit would liaise with the national NADMO office in getting relief items for the affected people.
