Final year Polytechnic students to use annual service leave to write final exams

educationFinal year polytechnic students, who have not completed the 2013/14 academic year but have been given the go ahead to undertake their national service this year, will have to forfeit their annual service leave to write their exams next semester.

Polytechnic students are among the over seventy one thousand national service personnel posted to various parts of the regions.

The national service Secretariat says an agreement between the various polytechnics and the education ministry reached a consensus on their participation in the service.

Polytechnic Teachers two weeks ago called off their over three months strike demanding that government pay them their book and research allowances which are in arrears. The strike led to the closure of all 10 polytechnics in the country leaving the students in limbo.

The Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS), Alhaji Alhassan Imoro says the polytechnic students must brace themselves to write their exams after proper academic work begins by the various polytechnic.
