Evans Kwafo feeds thousands affected by lockdown in Kumasi

Evans K. KWAFO, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the EKK Charity Foundation over the weekend fed over three thousand ( 3, 000) people in the Kumasi Metropolis.

Beneficiaries of the gesture were children, kayayei and the aged in four communities in Kumasi including Alabar, Aboabo, Bantama and Kumasi race course.

With packaged foods and snacks in branded vehicles, the philanthropist joined by his team shared food in the streets and markets in the selected communities.

Causing traffic to be at standstill with huge crowds gathering around the vehicle they used members of the foundation shared the packaged foods happily.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper after taking part in the two day sharing of foods, Mr Kwafo expressed delight of being able to help others in need.

He noted that the partial lockdown in the Kumasi Metropolis was a needful one for the people to avoid the spread and contraction of Covid-19 disease.

However, he said the measures has its attendant challenges.

This, he intimated urged the Foundation to come up with the idea to distribute food to persons who were vulnerable in the communities identified.

“I was well aware that the measures the President was going to take would have its challenges and so I decided to put up this idea with my team so we could feed the vulnerable and the needy in communities we had identified”, Mr Kwafo noted.

BENEFICIARIES:
Speaking to this reporter, Barikisu Suleiman, a hawker at the Race course market thanked the EKK Charity Foundation for the gesture.

She said because of the partial lock down hawking business had become slow.

Akwasi Bonah, a resident at Bantama said having food delivered to his doorstep felt good.

He noted that since the lockdown it has become difficult to access some favourite food joints in the community because most of them had stopped business.
