Do not misapply Social Responsibility Agreement (SRA) Fund-Forestry Manager

The Forestry Commission Manager, Sefwi wiawso, Mr Raymond Obeng Boamah has urged Adikro Nkabom Kuo of Kyeikrom, Ohenekrom, Kwadwokrom, Nantiedi, Beposo, Samfifire, and Kwaku-Buah to make judicious use of social responsibility agreement (SRA) paid to them by Samatex Timber Company.

Mr Boamah brought this to bare at his office in Sefwi Wiawso during the official handing over of a cheque of Twenty-five thousand, one hundred and sixty one Ghana cedis fifty six pesewas (GHC 25,161.56) being SRA to Adikro Nkabom Kuo at Kyeikrom and it’s environs by Samatex Timber Company for their developmental projects, adding that they should ensure nobody diverts the fund.

Mr Raymond Obeng Boamah further detailed the purpose of which the SRA was instituted by government and the forestry commission .

However , speaking with Awuku Addo Okyeame radio Bibiani, (secretary to the Adikro Nkabom Kuo SRA Committee) Mr Emmanuel Mpream ,forest certification manager who represented Samatex Timber Company and presented the cheque to Adikro Nkabom Kuo explained that it’s mandatory for them to always calculate 5% of the logs they cut in the forest monitored by the forestry commission and paid to the beneficiaries.

Mr Samuel Awuku Addo who is the secretary to the SRA Committee of Adikro Nkabom Kuo at Kyeikrom in the Wassa Amenfi Central District on behalf of the chiefs and people of the area thanked the forestry commission, Sefwi wiawso lead by Mr Raymond Obeng Boamah for their efforts and also Samatex Company for ensuring the preparation and presentation of SRA due them , adding that they will ensure the money is used for the purpose of which it has been given to them .
