Districts cut off from regional capital due to bad roads, residents cry over lost livelihoods

 

Ghana News-About four districts in the Eastern corridor enclave of the northern region have been cut off from the regional capital Tamale due to the bad nature of roads linking the districts and the regional capital.

To the southern part Nanumba North and south districts together with Kpandai district have been cut off as a result of an abandoned bridge at Lipusi by the contractors of the Eastern corridor road which started somewhere in 2015.

Whilst the people of the Saboba district can no more access the road to Yendi and Tamale due to an over-flowing bridge at Kpalba.

This according to residents in those areas has slowed down economic activities in the affected areas. They say it is difficult to bring goods from the regional capital to the districts and also difficult to send wares to the bigger towns and city to sell.

They lament that when they are able to transport items, it is done at outrageously high costs due to the terrible nature of the roads in the area.
