DCE worried over flouting of President’s ban on illegal mining by Kunsu youth

Ghana News-Mr. Joseph Dapaah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti region, has expressed worry over  flagrant disregard for the President’s ban on small scale mining by the youth of Kunsu near Mankranso.

He complains that despite the ban, the involvement of Operation Vanguard and the District Security Council (DISEC)  on the activities of small scale and illegal mining in the country, the youth continue to mine.

He says water bodies in the area are still being polluted and expressed conviction that the recalcitrant youth are being backed by some influential people within the community.

He however stated the assembly  will not relent in its efforts to stop illegal mining in the area.

The DCE was speaking at a Town Hall Meeting organized by the information department in collaboration with the District Assembly.
