DCE thwarts meeting to pass vote of no confidence; camps Assembly members in hotel

nana-asare-bediakoAssembly members calling for the head of the District Chief Executive of Atwima Nwabiagya say their call is apolitical and devoid of external influences.

“None of us have personal scores to settle with the Hon. Nana Asare Bediako neither aree being influenced by any politician…we are championing development in the district”, a member of the Assembly told rawgist.com.

Hon. Nana Asare Bediako is accused of financial misappropriation and members are calling for investigations into some projects the Assembly has recently embarked upon.

“We want to put on record that he has supervised corruption, illegal mining and mismanagement which call for serious forensic audit”, the honorable member tells rawgist.com reporter; Kwabena Danso-Dapaah shortly after unsuccessful special General Assembly Meeting to pass a vote of no confident in the DCE.

According to the Assembly member, “the award of contracts in the district do not pass through right channels. The Abuakwa and Asuofuo markets, excavation of refuse dumps in Abuakwa are a few examples of dealings the costs of which are shrouded in secrecy”.

Some Assembly members Tuesday failed to form the quorum to hold a meeting to decide the fate of their DCE. Out of 54 members, only ten were present including the DCE himself.

Investigations by this reporter reveals while some members were anxiously waiting for their colleagues to join them in the meeting, others were believed to be camped by the DCE in a hotel enjoying.
