Customs and Immigration Service should be resourced-Security Analyst

Security Analyst, Dr. Ibaard Ibrahim has noted that the Customs Excise and Preventive Service(CEPS) and the ammunitionImmigration service need to be resourced countrywide to ensure the safety of Ghanaians.

His call comes after the police in Accra impounded 80 boxes of ammunition that were being transported from Accra to Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region.

The ammunition was kept in a luggage compartment of an OA Vehicle with registration number AW 6758- 12 which was travelling to Techiman. The ammunition was impounded at the Doblo Barrier on the Accra-Nsawam highway upon police intelligence.

According to Ibaard Ibrahim, the immigration and CEPS need to be motivated to prevent such unfortunate happenings in the country.

He further noted that the reputation of Ghana as a peaceful country in sub-Saharan Africa may be at stake and can prevent investors from coming into the country.

Ibaard was speaking on Royal FM’s morning show with Sir Richmond.

Mr Ibaard further stated that government must provide enough funds for the operation of the small arms commission since they are not equipped with the needed materials.
