COVID 19: MP Donates ¢100,000 to feed constituents

The member of parliament for Atwima Kwawoma Constituency in the Ashanti region Dr. Kojo Appiah Kubi has set aside ¢80,000-¢100,000 Ghana cedis to support his constituents to complement government’s support program for the vulnerable as the two weeks lockdown continues.

The MP released the amount to support about 50,000 residents within 80 communities, who struggle to get three square meals a day.

Atwima Kwawoma constituency is predominately a farming community and most of them depend largely on proceeds from their farm produce.

The constituency is typically rural with about 93% of the residents living in small settlements of various sizes. The population below 14 and above 65 years of age account for about 43.83% and 7.72% of the population respectively.

“It is therefore imperative to adjust to the situation and support our constituents at this critical situation”, he said.

Through these interventions, the government has released 200 bags of rice, tomatoes, sardines, oil and 100 bags of gari to be distributed among the less endowed people in the constituency.

Before this, the MP had donated hundreds of veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, soap and others to the constituents.

The initiative he said, would positively benefit them in a time like this, and also help limit the spread of the virus.

The MP further appealed to the constituents to abide by the directives and follow the protocols set out to control the spread of the disease. “Your life is in your hands, hence, the need to strictly adhere to the directives and live long”.
