Confederation Cup: [VIDEO] Aduana record first win over AS Vita Club

Dormaa-based Aduana Stars picked their first win over Congolese AS Vita Club in the on-going CAF Confederation tournament.

Prior to the game, Aduana were rooted at the bottom of group A with just a point, having lost to Asec Mimosas and drawn at home to Raja Casablanca.

The ‘Ogya Boys’ surprisingly shown no sign of rustiness as they treated their supporters to some delectable piece of football, despite lack of competitive action for more than a month.

Aduana got their noses in front four minutes into the game. Striker Bright Agyei was played through by Yahaya Mohammed, and calmly slotted the ball at the back of the net.

Just when the Congolese could regroup for an equaliser, Yahaya Mohammed connected in a silky cross from Zakaria Mumumi from the right flank to increase their tally seven minutes after.

With the supporters of Aduana punching the air and the players clinging to one another, the Congolese were banging the pitch with their foot and nodding their heads, with their eyes glued to the skies looking for manna.

They however managed to pull one back from a resultant free-kick by Ngonda Muzinga.

The first half ended 2-1 in favour of the home side.

Back from recess, the tempo of the game heightened a little bit but there was nothing to add to the score sheet.

The Congolese kept bombarding Aduana’s goal area for an equaliser during the closing stages of the game. Tried as they could, they failed to break a steel defense as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Aduana Stars.

The win means, Aduana have moved second on the table behind Raja, who defeated Asec Mimosas by a goal to nil away from home.

The Dormaa club will face AS Vita in a return encounter on July 29.
