Cocaine saga: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director busted

Nayele-AmetefeAn Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Abiel Ashitey Armah has been arrested over the Nayele Ametefeh cocaine saga.

Two others, Theophilus Kissi of the Research Department attached to the VVIP Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport and one Abubakar Ahmed has also been arrested for allegedly aiding Ms. Ametefeh to transport the about 12 kilogrammes of cocaine.

Ashitey Armah who is the Assistant Director in charge of the VVIP Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport was arrested last Thursday.

The Daily Graphic reported that Ashitey Armah allegedly allowed Ms Ametefeh and two other women to use the VVIP lounge on November 9 to board their flight.

Ms. Ametefeh, also known as Ruby Adu Gyamfi, was subsequently arrested at the Heathrow International Airport London on November 10 for possessing 12.5 kilogrammes of cocaine.

According to reports, preliminary investigations by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) indicated that Ashitey Armah allegedly ordered Kissi and Ahmed to meet and escort Ametefeh and the two other through the VVIP Lounge; which they did.

The acting Director of Passports, Alexander Ntrakwa has also been questioned by the BNI over the matter.

This was revealed by the Minister for Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah on Citi FM last Friday.
