CCC@40: 40 Years Of Fulfilling The Great Commission.

A Visionary Beginning

In 1984, Reverend Ransford Obeng, fueled by divine inspiration, embarked on a transformative journey that would lead to the establishment of the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) in Kumasi, Ghana.

This journey began with his attendance at the prestigious Haggai Institute Leadership Training in Singapore, which marked the inception of a grand mission. During his time there, he visited the Calvary Charismatic Center, now known as Victory Family Center, led by the late Pastor Rick Seaward. This experience ignited a divine inspiration within him, prompting the vision to replicate a similar service and lifestyle upon his return to Ghana.

Early Growth and Relocations:

On Easter Sunday, April 7, 1985, after sharing his vision with his late wife, Mrs. Joyce Obeng, and spending time in prayer, CCC was born. The inaugural service took place at the Ministries Canteen, now the Ashanti Regional Office of the Civil and Local Government Servants Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) in Adum-Kumasi. With a dedicated  and commitment to revolutionising the Charismatic Church experience, Pastor Ransford, known as “Brother Ransford,” provided sound biblical training and equipped committed Christians to fulfill the Great Commission. His practical approach to Christian living, combined with his distinct style, including his bushy hair and Tomos motorbike, became hallmarks of his leadership. Over the years, CCC expanded and the church relocated several times to accommodate its growing congregation, moving from the Workers Canteen in 1987 to ‘the Upper Room’ in Adum, and eventually to a larger auditorium in Sepe Buokrom in the Manhyia community in November 1990 where the church continued to thrive and grow.

Mission and Vision:

For 40 years, CCC has been dedicated to training individuals to find joy in making disciples, emphasising the importance of missionary work. The organisation has consistently focused on influencing both society and local communities through the teachings of the word of God and by exemplifying commendable lifestyles, thereby promoting spiritual growth a culture of faith, service and community development.

Evangelism and Faith Outreach:

The church’s outreach programmes, such as the ‘Outdoor Evangelism,’ have gained recognition for their strategic approach, surveying communities before deploying members for effective evangelism. Governed by a Board of Governors and supported by various ministries, CCC has developed a unique culture that embraces modest and decent dressing, while its governance mirrors internationally accepted organisational structures, with a Board of Governors and Elders overseeing operations.

Ministries and A Legacy of Impact:

CCC has effectively harnessed the talents of its congregation, establishing various ministries, including Health, Missionary Work Legal Services, Family Life, Counselling, Evangelism, Media and Productions, Protocol, Security, Sound and Logistics, Outdoor Publicity, Children, Youth, Young Adults, Youth programmes,Transportation and Cleaning Services as well as others to meet the diverse needs of its members.

The School for Christian Development (SCD) has become one of the standout initiatives  of CCC’s activities, where congregants are grouped into smaller communities  between 20 and 25 for effective Bible study. From its humble beginnings, CCC has grown into a movement, planting over 600 churches across Ghana and beyond. As Reverend Ransford Obeng, the General Overseer, reflects, “For 40 years, CCC stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness… a legacy of faith that has impacted nations, and a beacon of hope for many seeking the light of Christ.

Reflecting on this milestone, he emphasises that CCC is not merely a church but a legacy of faith that continues to impact lives and communities, embodying the essence of the Great Commission.
