Nana Agyenim Boateng, Leader of Concerned Youth of Asante ( CYA) has appealed to government to carry out tangible development projects in the Ashanti Region as is being done in the national capital.
According to the leader, Ashanti deserved more than it was seeing in terms of infrastructural development.
Addressing a press conference at the Center for National Culture in Kumasi, Gyataba as the leader is affectionately known asked government to invest more into road projects in Ashanti.
While the national capital can boast of many footbridges and interchanges, the CYA leader said Kumasi the capital of Ashanti can only boast of the interchanges J.A. KUFUOR embarked on.
“Some of us are appalled at what we are witnessing because Ashanti can scarcely boast of tangible development projects in its communities as well as cities” Gyataba tearfully noted.
Sounding a caution to the NPP, the leader said the party has Ashanti as it’s stronghold and therefore needed to do more for its people.
The Ashanti region, the CYA leader noted votes massively for the NPP during elections.
He however bemoaned that the region has less to boast about in terms of infrastructural development.
Nana Boateng announced an ultimatum to government to reconsider its plans for Ashanti or risk protections from the youth of Ashanti.
“We are serving notice that the youth in Ashanti are not happy with the kind of development they are seeing and CYA would in some days to come embark on demonstrations if same continue”, Gyataba cautioned.
