The Techiman Circuit Court has remanded a 32-year old carpenter, Nii Okai into police custody for allegedly defiling a 13 year old girl.
The accused who pleaded not guilty to the charge is expected to open his defense on 27th September, 2014.
The victim’s father, Nkrumah Tikrabanye told the court presided over by Mr. Daniel K. Obeng that, the accused sent his daughter to buy egg for him and then defiled her.
According to the complainant, the incident took place on 9th July 2014 at Jema (Dadease), a suburb of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region between 8:00-8:30. He however told the court that his daughter (name withheld) returned home around 11pm.
He says the victim, after persistent questioning confirmed that she had been defiled by the accused.
The complainant reported the case to the Jema police leading to the arrest of Nii Okai and adds that medical checks at the Jema government hospital confirmed his daughter had been defiled.
