Bono East Regional branch of CTEAG rejects National Executives ‘mafia’ selection of Rep to Tree Crop Authority Board without elections
Members of the Bono East Regional branch of Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Ghana (CTEAG) have barred their teeth at their National Executives over the ‘mafia tactics’ in selecting a member to replace the current President and also serve as their Representative on the Tree Crop Development Authority Board without going through a valid election process.
Addressing a Press Conference in Techiman, Mr. Abdul Mumuni Issah, Bono East Regional Chairman of CTEAG revealed that, the two-term tenure of their current National President Mr. Alex Owusu Adjei has expired and per the Association’s Constitution an election to be participated by all District Executives was supposed to be held to get his replacement.
But the current National Executives who are mostly domiciled in the Bono Region particularly the Sampa area have connived to select their preferred candidate in the person of Mr. Kassim as their next Leader and Board Member at the Tree Crop Authority without the consent or involvement of the Executives from the Bono East Region and other cashew growing areas.
They have therefore rejected this unconstitutional and illegal appointment calling for an immediate election to allow any qualified or interested member to contest else all their members in Techiman, Nkoranza, Kintampo, Yeji and the Bono East Region at large have resolved to break away from the Association.
Some irate District Chairmen of the Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Ghana in the Bono East Region who were present at the Press Conference cautioned to seek a Court Injunction to prevent the ‘biased-appointed’ National President from occupying the position and also pleaded with the Government and Tree Crop Development Authority not to accept Mr. Kassim as a Board Member because he was not duly elected.
