Black Stars Players To Resist GFA Contract

black starsSome players of the Black Stars will resist the new directive from the Ghana Football Association to sign contracts before national team call ups Allsports.com.gh can exclusively confirm.

The new directive is as a result of the squabbles over money that led to an ignominious exit of the senior football team from the world cup in Brazil and international embarrassment over the entire episode.

The Ghana Football Association is adamant in it’s mission to repair what it perceives as broken down discipline within the team.

The players in interviews with Allsports.com.gh have indicated their unwillingness to sign the proposed contract under any circumstances. They claim the contracts will unnecessarily empower the football association whilst leaving them without a say in their welfare when things go awry.

Allsports.com.gh also understands that the players are unhappy about being cut off from the discussion that led to the decision to impose contracts on their national team careers.

Checks with the Ghana Football Association through it’s Communications director,Ibrahim Sannie Daara confirmed that the playing body was not involved in the discussion to impose contracts but also revealed that arrangements were underway to educate the players on the benefits of the contracts.

“We took the decision on these contracts, which will basically deal with the mode of payment, amount to be paid during qualifications and tournaments after the World Cup.

Our plan is to sit down with the players and highlight the benefits of these contracts to them and also give them an avenue where they can also hold the association accountable on certain issues.”
