Ban uncooked salt from the chop bars – Doctor Advises

Dr. Kojo Awotwi Hutton- Mensah Resident Nephrologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Kath has advised chop bar operators in the country to discontinue supplying their customers/ consumers with uncooked salt.

We should be content with the existing salt in the prepared soup or our meals without adding uncooked/extra salt to the delicacy, since is a very dangerous to our health and risk causing damage to our brain and blood flow.

He has observed that, many chop bar operators in the country make provision for extra salt for their consumers, a situation he described as bad and ought to be discouraged immediately.

Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast show, Dr. Dr Kojo Awotwi Hutton, said, too much salt intake amounts to high blood pressure and appealed to Ghanaians to reduce the level of salt intake.

He said the higher your blood pressure, the greater the strain on your heart, arteries, kidneys and brain.
