Ashanti Professional Club (APC) gives to Asantehene

The Ashanti Professional Club (APC), a social group of professionals with Ashanti roots have presented 100 boxes of J.H Henkes’ schnapps to the Overlord of Asanteman, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The gesture by the group is to support the Asantehene as he performs the final funeral rites of his late mother and Queen mother of Asanteman, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem.

In a brief ceremony at the Manhyia Palace, the four members of the group on behalf of their compatriots presented the alcoholic drinks to the Mawerehene of Asanteman, Baffuo Osei Hyeaman Brentuo V.

RESPONSE:
Receiving the drinks on behalf of the Ashanti King, the Mawerehene commended the APC group for the kind gesture.

According to him, it was thoughtful of them to consider giving to support the Asantehene in this trying time when he is mourning his late mother.

As tradition demands, the official drink in such occasion which is considered sacred in the custom of the Asante people is the Schnapp, Baffuo Hyeaman educated.

He urged the group to continue with their unalloyed support for the Ashanti Monarch and the development of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper in Kumasi after the presentation ceremony, Frank Nicholas Okai, brands manager of Forewin Ghana Limited and a member of APC expressed the delight of the group to be able to contribute to the organization of the final funeral rites of the late Queen.

According to him, having worked and still working in the Ashanti Kingdom it was prudent that the group showed its support to the King as he sends off his mother to eternity.

He also promised to ensure the entire membership of APC is present at the upcoming funeral to support the Asantehene and the people of Asanteman as it gives the late Queen a befitting funeral.

Chief Patrick Asamoah, Deputy Financial Secretary of APC, indicated the group’s desire to support every initiative of the Asantehene aimed at the development of Asanteman.

He thanked APC members for their generous contributions to the Committee overseeing the funeral celebration.
