Nana Ama Ampomah, Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party presents some of the items to a Prisons Officer on Val’s day.

The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing of the New Patriotic Party last Friday presented medical supplies, food items and toiletries to inmates at the Kumasi Main Prisons.

The wing also treated the inmates and Prison Authorities to sumptuous meals as they wined, dined and danced together.

Speaking to the media after presenting the items, Nana Ama Ampomah, the regional women’s organiser expressed happiness about the initiative of the party’s wing.

She noted that prisoners are the most forgotten people in society hence the decision by the women to remember them on Valentine’s day.

“My brother we decided to visit the prisons to show them love and to remind the inmates that they have not been forgotten”, Madam Ampomah stated.

Giving more details about the gesture, Pretty giant as the wing’s leader is referred to by members noted that the items donated were from the women as well as the Ampomah Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

Madam Ampomah also disclosed that the medical supplies as well as the intravenous drips were from the CEO of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr Oheneba Owusu Danso.

She noted that the cost runs into several thousands of cedis but posited that the cost was not a bother to the wing.

According to her, bringing smiles to people is the duty of all and no amount can be able to quantify same.

“We as a wing are happy to be able to be of service to our dear brothers and sisters who find themselves here and to provide food to over 2000 people is fulfilling enterprise for us in the NPP”, the women’s leader stressed.

Sounding joyful after enjoying the buffet meals, Kwadwo Asenso, a 23 year old inmate thanked the NPP women for the gesture.

He said for him this is the best meal he had enjoyed since his conviction 2 years ago.

Adwoa Afrakoma, a 30 year old inmate could not hide her happiness about the gesture by the NPP women.

She said it feels warm to know that people in high places still remember those who have been cast into prisons.
