Armed forces deployed to Denkyira-Obuasi after residents stone and burn military Captain

The small town of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central region may well become a ghost town as the Ghana Armed forces has deployed scores of military personnel to search for residents who lynched the captain in charge of the area.

The residents in the area mistook Capt M.A Mahama of the 5 Battalion of Infantry for an armed robber when he went jogging Monday morning.

It is reported that the residents stoned and burnt him to death when his side-arm was seen by some of the residents as he sought directions from them.

A statement from the Ghana Armed Forces says “a high-powered fact-finding team led by the Chief of Army Staff is proceeding to the scene of the incident to ascertain the facts of the case.”

Despite assurances from the military hierarchy that residents of the town will not be brutalized by military personnel deployed there, rawgist.com learns the soldiers are extremely angered by the brutal murder of their captain and are likely to show no mercy
