ARBLAS donates to Mampong Babies Home

DonationThe Ashanti Rural Banks Ladies Association (ARBLAS) has pledged its continual support to orphanage homes across the country.

Executives of the Association said they were putting measures in place to ensure such homes benefitted from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of rural and community banks in and around the areas they operated.

ARBLAS, as part of activities marking its 10th anniversary, donated items worth Gh₵10,000 to the Mampong Babies’ Home in the Ashanti Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The items included five bags of rice, cooking oil, toiletries, baby foods, biscuits and assorted drinks. Others were towels, blankets, detergents, disinfectants, cartons of milk and other food items.
Twenty three (23) rural and community banks across the Region came together to donate and present the items to the orphanage home.

Speaking after the presentation, Organizer of the Association, Madam Veronica Ackah-Miezah, said ARBLAS had for the past years pledged to assist such facilities not only in the region, but also the country as a whole.

She added that the aim of the Association was also to impact positively on the lives of the needy Ghanaian.

Madam Ackah-Miezah said the gesture was not their last, adding that the Association had noted some challenges bedeviling the Mampong Babies Home and was working hard to provide the needed support to them.

“As part of our tenth anniversary and being women we have decided to donate to the Mampong Babies Home so that the vulnerable children here can be catered for properly,” she noted.

Authorities at the orphanage also appealed for public support in the provision of basic social amenities to the orphage.

They decried the lack of beds and adequate funding to pay the fees of orphans who were in school.

Supervisor at the Mampong Babies’ Home, Madam Margaret Addae, commended the ARBLAS and called for more public support to the orphanage.

The Mampong Babies Home, which was established in 1967 with only four (4) orphans, is currently taking care of 44 orphans.

Twenty-six of the orphans are female while 18 are male.

ARBLAS was formed ten (10) years ago with the objective of fostering unity among all ladies in rural and community banking and the sale of products to customers of rural banks across the country.

Since its inception, the Association has thrived in areas such as the sensitization of the public to keep the Ghana cedi clean, the engagement rural folk in the areas of girl-child education and Small and Medium scale Enterprises (SMEs).

The Association has also been engaging in the recovery of loans and the organization of eye and breast screening exercises to save lives of the Ghanaian populace.

ARBLAS has also provided empowerment programmes for its members in the areas of Domestic Violence Bill, Interstate Succession Law, and Superior Customer Services among others.
