GIVE APPROVAL TO MMDCE NOMINEES—-FRANCIS ADOMAKO APPEALS TO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS.

The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the NPP, Mr. Francis Adomako, has made a passionate appeal to all Assembly Members across the length and breadth of the country, to approve all MMDCES nominated by the President.

His call, comes after the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Dan Botwe, on Sunday, finally announced the long awaited list of MMDCES nominees from the President.

The constitution of Ghana allows the President of the Republic to appoint MMDCES to represent him at the various Metropolis and Districts across the country.

TWIST:
However, this year’s selection process took a different twist, where prospective aspirants for the various positions had to go through vetting at the regional and national levels.

After broader consultations from relevant stakeholders, the President finally approved some names which were outdoored on Sunday, by the Local Government Minister.

CONFIRMATION PROCESS:
However, the constitution has vested some powers in the Assembly Members, with whom these MMDCES shall be working with, to approve or disapprove them through voting.

In situations where these nominees are disapproved by the Assembly Members, the President would have to reappoint same person or a different one, for them to approve again.

All these back and forth delays the period for which a particular nominee is expected to start work.

In the end, it stifles development where the citizenry suffers it’s consequences.

It is against this backdrop that MR Adomako is appealing to all Assembly Members to approve the various nominees for them to kickstart work.
