Allow incumbent MP to be contested to avoid problems-Asokwa organizer warns party

Delegates and NPP sympathisers within the Asokwa Constituency have vowed to vote against the New Patriotic Party in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections should the incumbent MP be made to go through the party’s primaries without a contest.

NPP Organizer for the constituency; Eric Osei who spoke to ghanagong.com’s Bernard Buachi said a pronouncement from the party’s second vice chair; FF Anto on radio has ignited anger among NPP supporters in the constituency. Mr. Anto is said to have stated that all female MPs in the region will go unopposed.

Eric Osei said the pronouncement has made his job very difficult as he is struggling to contain the anger of the party members.

He therefore sounded a caution to the party’s regional hierarchy to allow a contest in Asokwa in order to forestall problems for the party.

He could not understand why the regional hierarchy of the party were so bent on prevent Dr. Nana Yaw Boakye from contesting although information he has reveals that he has been cleared at the national level following his appeal.

He believes the only way there will be peace is to allow for a fair contest and whoever wins will have the support of the entire party.
