Alliance Française to electrify Accra with E.C.G Festival

ecgAlliance Française is hosting the first ever Electro Festival dubbed, ‘Electro Comes To Ghana!’ which will be bringing together artistes, DJs, and music lovers from the African continent and beyond in Accra on October 23, 24 and 25 respectively.

The highlight of the three-day event is an exceptional performance with Kenyan House/Funk/Disco band, ‘Just a Band’ on October 25 whose career was launched with their debut album, ‘Scratch to Reveal’ in 2008.

Their music has explored various musical directions such as Disco, Electronica, Hip-hop and Jazz. The group is highly solicited and has toured several countries in Africa and is now making its way to Ghana for the first time to celebrate the Electro-Music Festival with thousands of Ghanaians.

The band aims to depict a different aspect of African music which many are yet to experience.

Member of the band, Bill Sellanga said, “We hope to be part of the generation that tells a different story about where we come from.”

‘Just a band’ is known to bringing the audiences to their feet and in the process making them rethink what they know about African music and identity.

Electronic music lovers and the public are excited about this event judging from the positive responses that have flown in so far, hence from all indications the festival is going to be a huge success and will surely linger for a long time afterwards in the memories of participants.

The festival consists of instructive and entertaining events to make the audience appreciate electronic music on a whole new level such as electronic workshops during which the origins and the genres of the style will be explained in detail, with demonstrations of electro music production with guest DJs and producers of Electronic music.

As part of the festival, ‘Roots of Azonto’ by Akwaaba Sound System will share its sound bank of Ghanaian percussions for free with interested producers and beat makers in Ghana on Friday October 24.

Its sounds have already been used by top producers in Ghana such as Laxio, Cash 2, Appietus and NshonaMuzick.

A full Electro atmosphere will be created for international and local electro music enthusiasts to enjoy this one of a kind experience. Electronic music is gaining more and more popularity and visibility in Africa, so let’s bring it to Ghana!
