Ahafo Community Bank builds office complex

AhafoThe Ahafo Community Bank Limited has constructed a one-storey modern office complex at a cost of GH¢489,657.37 at Kukuom, the capital of the Asunafo South District in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The construction of the facility, which began under the administration of the former Board Chairman of the bank, Nana Boakye Danquah, serves as the headquarters of the bank, which has five branches.

The Omanhene of Kukuom Traditional Area, Osahene Kwaku Antakyi, who inaugurated the new office, said the bank began operations in 1996 with an initial stated capital of GH¢3,300, which was the requirement for the issuance of a community bank licence by the Bank of Ghana.

Osahene Antakyi, a patron of the bank, said there was the need for the bank to put up its own head office building as the former office was congested, hence his decision to provide free land for the construction of the facility.

The Board Chairman of the bank, Mr Kofi Sakyi, commended the General Manager, Mr Evans Opoku Bobie, and the management team for putting up such a magnificent edifice.

He enjoined the staff and management of the bank to work hard to increase its current capital from GH¢268,229.45 to the Bank of Ghana’s requirement of GH¢300,000.

Mr Sakyi noted with regret that some customers had broken the chain of credit management, which was the highest income earner for the bank.

In a speech read on behalf of the Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank Limited, Mr Kwadwo Aye Kusi, he advised the board and management of the bank to be focused and come up with strategies which were prudent, dynamic and aggressive to keep their operations above the infantile crisis facing the bank.

He noted that transformation and modernisation of the banking industry required continuous training of staff to upgrade their knowledge and skills to enable workers to fit into the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-based banking environment.

The General Manager of the bank, Mr Opoku Bobie, said since he took over the administration of the bank, it had been rated satisfactory by the Bank of Ghana.
