‘Agyapadie’ document a strategy to monopolise Ghana’s resources – Ohene Agyekum

Former Ambassador to the United States under President John Evans Atta Mills’ administration, Daniel Ohene Agyekum, has strongly condemned the controversial Agyapadie document, labelling it as a blatant example of state capture.

According to Ambassador Agyekum, the document signifies an alarming shift in which the nation’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of a privileged few, undermining democratic governance and equitable resource distribution.

The Agyapadie document, which has sparked significant debate, has been dismissed as fraudulent by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Despite the president’s denial of the document’s authenticity, former President John Dramani Mahama said that the contents of the document have been implemented.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, Agyekum expressed grave concerns about the implications of the document, describing it as a diabolical scheme generated by a few individuals from Kyebi.

“This document is authentic and it represents a very diabolical scheme by a small group of individuals from Kyebi. My understanding when people talk about the Akyem mafia is that it is wrong because I will argue that it is Kyebi mafia.”

Agyekum’s remarks reflect his belief that the Agyapadie document is not merely a set of administrative guidelines but rather a strategic blueprint designed to monopolise Ghana’s resources. He warned that this could set a dangerous precedent for the future of the country.
