ACILA trains journalists in Human Rights & investigative journalism

The Africa Center for International Law and Accountability (ACILA) has taken journalists in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions through two days intensive training in International Human Rights, Transparency and accountability as well as investigative journalism.

The media boot camp which took place at Royal Lamerta Hotel in Kumasi drew over 50 joirnalists across the various media platforms.

Human Rights lawyers, judges as well as experienced media practitioners led various sessions of the training and panel discussions on the various subjects.

The theme for the training was “Ghana’s Obligations under Domestic and International Human Rights Law”

Executive Director of ACILA; William Nyarko explained that his outfit is interested in making journalism relevant to the public.

He encouraged journalists to arm themselves with the law and the knowledge required to hold duty bearers accountable and remain relevant agents of development.

He explained various opportunities his outfit provides to enhance media work including grants for investigative works.

Participating journalists were awarded certificates at the end of the two-day event.
