Accra NPP declare support for Akuf-Addo

nana-addoThe Greater Accra Region New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates have declared their 100 per cent support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his bid to be the party’s 2016 presidential candidate.

Mr Ishmael Ashitey, NPP Greater Accra Regional Chairman, led the Region’s 34 constituency executives to pledge their resolve to give the aspirant 100 per cent votes in the August 31 and October 18 congresses.

Mr Ashitey and the delegates gave the endorsement on Tuesday when the aspirant met them at the Our Lady of Mercy (OLAM) SHS auditorium in Tema.

He said in order not to create doubts in the minds of people, he personally spoke with the executives and had received their confirmation of voting unanimously for Nana Akufo-Addo.

To prove their support each of the executives and the party’s Members of Parliament (MPs) made a declaration to ensure that their delegates voted accordingly.

He noted that “Greater Accra is for Nana and I don’t want any disappointment from any of you”.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the greatest honour he had was for the delegates to have made him the party’s flag bearer for the past two elections.

He said Ghana needed a committed leader like himself and when voted as the flag bearer and subsequently the president, he would assembly first class men and women to deliver the needed economic stability to the country.

He lamented that currently there were few jobs for the youth, businesses were collapsing, the education system was in disarray, while the prices of goods and utility bills kept doubling by the day.

Nana Akufo-Addo said for him to get the opportunity to find solution to these problems, the delegates must increase their 88 per cent vote in the previous congress to 100 per cent or maintain it as a first step to the seat of government.

To those who are questioning his age and health, he said, “I don’t know if they are my doctors but I can boldly tell you that I am very fit and strong”.

Dr Mahamadu Baumia, the vice presidential candidate for the NPP in the 2012 elections, called for massive votes for the aspirant, adding that the real fight was between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not the seven flag bearer hopefuls.

Dr Bawumia said Ghanaians were tired of the NDC’s propaganda rule and had therefore called on the NPP to save them.

According to him, Ghana was having economic crises because the NDC refused to heed to the NPP’s advice to desist from using propaganda to rule the country.

“We told them. You cannot use propaganda to manage the economy but they did not listen, now we have economic crises with prices almost doubling”, he said.

Sheik I.C. Quaye, former MP for Ayawaso Central, Mr Daniel Titus Glove, MP for Tema East, Mr Boakye Adjei Adjarko, NPP 2012 campaign manager and other speakers all reiterated the need to vote Nana Addo as the flag bearer.
