800,000 hybrid cocoa seedlings to be distributed to farmers

cocoaA community Extension Agent at the Cocoa Health and Extension Division,Anthony Vandyck Quartey says farming serves as a natural therapy which prevents one from contracting diseases such as stroke,hypertention among others.

According to him farming is a form of exercise which strengthens the body and also promotes alertness.

He was speaking to sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako on the Royal yeresuadee Morning Show on the Cocoa Economic Recovery Programme(ERP).

Mr Quartey furthur noted that Ghanaians should eraze the mentality that farming belongs to the class of illiterates and admonished all Ghanaians to attach farming to their respective professions.

Speaking on the Economic Recovery Programme,Mr Anthony Vandyck Quartey noted that 800,000 hybrid cocoa seedlings are set to be distributed to farmers in replacement of the unproductive cocoa trees that have been cut down.

Explaining the procedures for the distribution,he stated that surveyors and the extension officers will take the details of the beneficiaries of the hybrid seedlings before it is distributed to prevent future unforeseen circumstances.

He furthur advised that farmers should take prunning at the first three months of the year serious to prevent their cocoa plants from being attacked by cocoa related diseases to increase their yield.
