The Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Secretariat says it hopes to receive between 5,000 to 10, 000 applications from young entrepreneurs across the country.
The YES Secretariat began receiving business plans, ideas and proposals from young and prospective entrepreneurs Monday. The Secretariat wants interested persons who meet the published Eligibility Criteria have from now till October 10, 2014 to submit their business plans, or ideas for consideration.
The YES, an initiative of President John Mahama, was launched on August 12, 2014 with a seed capital of GH¢10 million and is designed to help Ghana’s young and innovative population turn great ideas into thriving business enterprises.
Coordinators of the YES Secretariat, Kojo Adu Asare, said, qualification for the consideration and eligibility criteria have been published on the official website www.yes.gov.gh. He also noted that applicants must provide proof of their citizenship, educational qualification, and also two letters of recommendation or reference in support of their application.
The application form is available on the YES website for download.
Completed application forms and business plans can be sent to the YES Secretariat via email, applications@yes.gov.gh or filled and submitted online from our website, www.yes.gov.gh or delivered by post to YES Secretariat, P. O. Box 1627, Accra- Ghana. Applicants are also welcome to hand deliver their application to the YES Secretariat, Plot No 7, Research Road, South Legon, Accra- Ghana.
Coordinator of the YES Secretariat, Kojo Adu Asare says though people have been slow in bringing their proposals they hope that as the days go by a lot more people will bring in their proposals.
“It hasn’t been that responsive since is the first day and that is typical of Ghanaians, usually most people do not want to start from day one. Going forward we are sure that a lot more people will submit their applications and though it will be difficult to project on the number of applications expected being our first time, we are hoping to receive some 5000 to 10000 applicants.”
